Make a Muslin

Traditionally home sewists and professional sewists always made a practice garment or “muslin” before sewing the garment with the chosen fabric. Cotton muslin fabric is less expensive than whatever fabric has been chosen for your sewing project. So if you make a mistake, it’s ok! Also, the muslin garment is sewn with extra seam allowance which can be adjusted when you complete sewing the garment pattern and try on the garment. Making a muslin is also a great way to make a garment with extra length so that you may determine the best length of the finished garment.
